Working through the Penn State Corporate Engagement Center, Barnes & Noble College has awarded $165,000 in grants to support 11 initiatives across the University. The grants support a range of colleges, campuses and units to advance programs where Penn State and Banes & Noble share mutual interest.
Penn State alumni Victor and Dena Hammel have committed $450,000 to support the University’s Holocaust, Genocide and Human Rights Education Initiative.
Penn State alumnus Irvin Cohen, 95, of Reading, passed away on Jan. 9, in his home surrounded by family. Irvin, known as “Irv” to all, is survived by his wife of 70 years, Lois. Both Irv and Lois Cohen have been long-time friends and supporters of Penn State Berks and the University.
Penn State Smeal College of Business class of 1985 alumnus Brian Dreibelbis and his wife, Sherry, recently made a $500,000 estate commitment to the University that will benefit both Smeal and Penn State Berks.
Mark Viglione, a 2015 graduate and founder of Enigma Networkz, has finalized a software licensing agreement with the University to make his company’s security information and event management platform, Enigma Glass, available to students at all Penn State campuses.
The Penn State Bookstore, which is operated by Barnes & Noble College, has awarded its fifth round of grants to support a range of programs and initiatives throughout the University. Launched in the 2015-16 academic year, the grant program began through a $1.25 million commitment to Penn State to help advance the University’s most pressing priorities.
A $425,000 donation will allow Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center and its partner, Penn State Berks, to establish a nursing simulation lab on St. Joseph’s downtown Reading campus.
