Penn State is marking Sexual Assault Awareness month this April with a range of events and initiatives across the Commonwealth that offer educational opportunities, focus attention on the issue and bring the community together to stop sexual misconduct.

When you walk into Dr. Tami Mysliwiec's biological laboratory, you will find her surrounded by students, working on research. "Our job is to train student scientists," states Mysliwiec. "Students are the future of research."
Pennsylvania State Senators David Argall (R-Schuylkill/Berks) and Judy Schwank (D-Berks) will visit Penn State Berks for a "Lunch with Legislators" program, organized by the Penn State Berks Student Government Association. The program will be held from 1-2 p.m. in the Perkins Student Center Multipurpose Room. This event is open to the entire campus community, and a light lunch will be served.
The Penn State Berks Department of Theatre will present Baby with the Bathwater, by Christopher Durang. This spring mainstage production opens on Tuesday, April 19, 2016, and runs though Friday, April 22, at 8 p.m. in the Perkins Student Center Auditorium. Tickets are $5 for Penn State students, faculty, and staff with Penn State ID; $10 for the general public.
Penn State Berks will hold an information session for the MBA program on Thursday, April 28, 2016, from 6-7 p.m. in room 157, Franco Building, Penn State Berks.

Dr. Kendall Phillips, Professor of Communication and Rhetorical Studies and Associate Dean of Research and Graduate Studies at Syracuse University, will present a lecture titled "Weird and Superstitious: Horrific Cinema and the Construction of American National Identity" on Tuesday, April 12, 2016, at 7 p.m. in the Perkins Student Center Auditorium. This lecture is free and open to the public.
Penn State Berks will hold an information session for the master of business administration program from 6 to 7 p.m. April 28 in Room 157 of the Franco Building on campus. Penn State Great Valley offers its MBA course at Penn State Berks.
Current college students and professionals who want a competitive edge can "enlist" in the Penn State Berks Coding Bootcamp. This new summer program will provide in-depth training in JAVA programming with the goal of helping current college students get ahead in their studies and eventually the job market, while giving professionals a competitive advantage in their careers. Penn State Berks is the only college in Berks County to offer such a program.

Losoncy Lecture in Physics and Astronomy, Dr. Paul Mantica, a world-renowned nuclear physical chemist and the Deputy Project Manager of Facility for Rare Isotope Beams, a new scientific user facility for nuclear science at Michigan State University, will give a lecture titled "Facility for Rare Isotope Beams: Current Construction Status and Future Science Opportunities" on Friday, April 8, 2016, from 4:30-5:30 p.m.
Penn State Berks will participate in Penn State's first Open Educational Resources (OER) Summit on Wednesday, March 23, 2016, from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the Thun Library, room 145. This University-wide summit aims to educate participants about OER, share updates from the provost-charged OER task force, and showcase Penn State faculty examples of OER in practice.
