Two Penn State students won local Miss America crowns recently and advanced to compete for the title of Miss Pennsylvania this summer in Pittsburgh.
Sarah Fieger, Penn State Berks, was crowned Miss Southeastern PA and Kelsey Wettig, Penn State University Park, was crowned Miss Pennsbury during competitions in late March in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania.
During the week of March 5-13, ten Penn State Berks students and two staff advisers traveled to Belfast, Ireland to work with the nonprofit organization Amazade on initiatives related to youth, hunger, and homelessness-all major issues facing citizens of Northern Ireland.
This year, instead of choosing a project by destination, students selected a project by its mission.
Students involved in entrepreneurship at Berks will participate in the Penn State Student Entrepreneurship Summit on April 15, 2016, at University Park campus. The goal of the Summit is to connect entrepreneurial students from across the Penn State campuses and to share best practices and lessons learned in the realm of student entrepreneurship.
The Penn State Berks Student Veteran Organization will host its third annual "ROY G. BIV Memorial Run" on Saturday, April 23, 2016, at 2:30 p.m. The event is named for some of the colors used in the run, and the term "memorial" is used to recognize fallen soldiers. The event is a 5-K (3.1 mile) untimed "fun run" or 1-mile walk around the campus designed to combine a game of color tag with fitness and fun. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Penn State Berks Student Veteran Organization.
The Penn State Berks Entrepreneurship Minor will present a lecture titled "The ABCs of Living an Entrepreneurial Life" by Dr. Patricia Greene, Professor of Entrepreneurship at Babson College, on Monday, April 18, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. in room 5, Luerssen Building. This event is free and open to the public.
College's first building gets major renovation to meet needs of Science Division
Penn State Berks will hold a dedication ceremony for the Luerssen Science Building on Wednesday, April 20, 2016, from 1-2:30 p.m. The ceremony, featuring brief addresses from college and community leaders, will be held promptly at 1 p.m., followed by tours of the facility. This event is free and open to the public and light refreshments will be served.

hold a variety of informational events for students during the month of April,
which is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. All events are for students currently
enrolled at Penn State Berks.

The upcoming Penn State Berks Science Colloquium will address a topic that is of utmost importance to healthcare professionsals: Confronting Emerging Viral Threats: From HIV/AIDS to Zika. Jose Esparza MD, PhD, of the Global Virus Network (GVN) and University of Maryland School of Medicine, Baltimore, will present this talk on Friday, April 1, 2016, at 1 p.m. in room 5 of the Luerssen Science Building. This event is free and open to the public.
The Penn State Berks Sustainability Team, led by Dr. Mahsa Kazempour, Associate Professor of Science Education, has a variety of activities and events scheduled in April for the college's first annual Sustainability Month celebration. These activities and events, planned and coordinated by various faculty, staff, and students, will focus on raising awareness and encouraging personal and community action.
There will be a Sustainability Film Fest, beginning on Monday, April 4, 2016, featuring the following films:
