Sara Critchfield, founding Editorial Director of Upworthy, will present a lecture titled "Good Ideas Going Viral" on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. in the Perkins Student Center Multi-Purpose Room. This lecture is free and open to the public.
During the weekend of Feb. 19-21, 2016, the Berks benefitting THON student group raised an impressive $51,662 toward the overall total, and ranked third among Penn State campuses in fundraising. In total, THON raised $9.8 million for the Four Diamonds Fund.
Short for the Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon, THON is the 46-hour, no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon to benefit the Four Diamonds Fund, which supports families battling pediatric cancer.

Penn State Berks will host the first "Leadership & Education" conference on Saturday, April 9, 2016. The leadership conference will provide a dynamic, interactive forum for values-based, purpose-driven, and applied leadership development focusing on eight majors at Penn State Berks. This conference will be coordinated, developed, and administered by students, in collaboration with faculty.
In Rosewater: An Iranian Odyssey, Maziar Bahari tells the story that was the inspiration for his riveting memoir, Rosewater: A Family's Story of Love, Captivity, and Survival and Rosewater, the 2014 film directed by The Daily Show's Jon Stewart. The presentation will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at 7:30 p.m. in the Perkins Student Center Auditorium, Penn State Berks. It is free and open to the public.
The Penn State Berks Freyberger Gallery will present the exhibition Forsyth and Farrell from March 17-April 21, 2016. There will be an opening reception on Thursday, March 17, at 5 p.m. This event is free and open to the public, and light refreshments will be served.
This year's Alternative Spring Break will take a group of ten Penn State Berks students, along with two staff members, to Belfast, Ireland, where they will spend the week of March 5-13, 2016, working on initiatives related to hunger and homelessness.
The Penn State Berks Theatre Department will present La Gringa, a play by award-winning playwright Carmen Rivera, as the Spring Workshop production. The play will be presented as a staged reading on Tuesday, Feb. 23; Thursday, Feb. 25; and Friday, Feb. 26, 2016 at 8 p.m. in the Perkins Student Center Auditorium. Admission is free, but space is limited to 40 seats on stage with the actors. In addition, Puerto Rican cuisine will be served after every performance.
Dr. Jennifer Hillman, Professor of Psychology at Penn State Berks, recently earned the award of board certification in Geropsychology from the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP). She is one of only four board certified Geropsychologists in Pennsylvania, and one of only fifty-three in the United States.
Dr. Kenneth Womack, expert on The Beatles, will make a college-wide presentation on George Martin, musical producer for the Beatles, on Tuesday, March 1, 2016, at 7 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room, Perkins Student Center, Penn State Berks. This presentation is free and open to the public.
