College hosts Martin Luther King Jr. banquet on Jan. 26

Penn State Berks will host a banquet in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. on Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016. The event will be held in the Perkins Student Center Multipurpose Room; doors open at 6 p.m., with dinner at 6:30. This year's banquet theme is "We Shall Overcome."

Students volunteer in the community

Penn State Berks students will be "lending their paws for a good cause" as they volunteer at a variety of nonprofit organizations during the academic year. The following is a list of community service initiatives in February 2016. Wednesday, February 3, 1-2:30 p.m. Students will socialize with residents of Country Meadows while competing with and alongside them in one of their most competitive games-Wii Bowling.

Freyberger Gallery holds “Stories of Immigrants and Refugees”

The Freyberger Gallery will host a special event, "Stories of Immigrants and Refugees: An Evening of Compassion," on Thursday, February 4, 2015, at 6 p.m. This event is being held in conjunction with the exhibition Eye of the Collector: The Jewish Vision of Sigmund R. Balka, which opens on January 21. Both events are free and open to the public and light refreshments will be served.

COIL Conversation with Crunch App’s Student Development Team on Feb. 12

The Penn State Berks Student Development Team who developed an app to help students find tutors across the University will present at the upcoming Penn State COIL (Center for Online Innovation in Learning) Conversation on Friday, February 12, 2016, from 2-3 p.m. in the Penn State Room of the Perkins Student Center, Penn State Berks. Student completes NSF Research Experience in Synthesis Studies

Penn State Berks Biochemistry and Molecular Biology major Katelyn Leets completed a National Science Foundation (NSF) Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) at the University at Syracuse-SUNY in August 2015. Her research was titled "Synthesis Studies of Kapakahine C," focused on creating a molecule that has demonstrated anti-leukemia properties.
