Theatre Department presents Obie Award-Winning Dark Comedy

The Penn State Berks Department of Theatre will present an Obie award-winning dark comedy, which cannot be named due to Dramatists Play Service, Inc. amateur leasing restrictions, on November 6, 7, 8, 14 and 15, 2014 at 8 p.m. and on Sunday, November 16, at 2 p.m. in the Perkins Student Center Auditorium. Tickets are $10 for general admission, $7 for Penn State faculty and staff with ID, and $5 for Penn State students with ID.

Qadim Ensemble brings sacred folkloric music of the Near East

The Qadim Ensemble celebrates the common musical and spiritual heritage of the Near East. Their performance is part of the Penn State Berks Arts and Lecture series and will take place on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. in the Perkins Student Center Auditorium. This event is free and open to the public.

Class visits New York City to learn about LGBTQ culture and diversity

Penn State Berks students enrolled in the college's LGBTQ Identity, Culture and Communication course, part of both the Women's Studies and the Communication Arts and Sciences curriculum, visited New York City October 4-5, 2014, to participate in various educational activities associated with LGBTQ culture, history and activist, with a special emphasis on how LGBTQ culture is reflected in the arts.

Native American storyteller teaches about Lenape people

Darius Puff will speak about his Native American heritage as part of the cultural events portion of the Penn State Berks Arts and Lecture series on Monday, November 17, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. in the Perkins Student Center Multipurpose Room. This event is free and open to the public.

HASS Colloquium slated for Oct. 29

The upcoming Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (HASS) Colloquium will feature two separate presentations: one titled "Using Technology To Cultivate the Summer Reading Behaviors of Developing Young Adolescent Readers" and another titled "Jim Crow Harlem in Blue: Race, Class, Policing and Long Civil Rights Movement New York City, 1969-1971." The colloquium will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2014, from 1:00-2:20 p.m. in room 105 of the Franco Building.

Penn State Berks holds inaugural TEDxPSUBerks event

Penn State Berks will host its inaugural TEDxPSUBerks event, on its campus Friday, November 14, 2014, beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the Perkins Student Center Auditorium. Organized by the Penn State Berks Student Veterans Organization, their goal is to create a memorable experience to connect and bring diverse disciplines and backgrounds together around new ideas, focusing on the theme "Love and Education."

Students volunteer at Vision Resource Center

Penn State Berks Applied Psychology seniors will be completing their community service project at the Vision Resource Center of Berks County's 3rd Annual Harvest Fest at the Vision Resource Center, 2020 Hampden Boulevard in Reading, on Saturday, October 18, 2014, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.
